The Cygnet® Flexible Clamps from Peters Surgical offer an extensive range of options tailored to meet diverse surgical needs. Designed with precision and flexibility in mind, these clamps, combined with Intrack® Inserts, provide surgeons with the necessary tools for optimal vascular control.  This article explores the features, configurations, and setup of the Cygnet® Flexible Clamps and Intrack® Inserts, emphasizing their applications in various surgical procedures.

I- Cygnet® Flexible Clamps

1. Jaw Orientations and Sizes

Peters Surgical’s Cygnet® Flexible Clamps are designed to offer a wide variety of jaw  orientations, made for different surgical requirements:

  • 86mm Jaws: Suitable for standard procedures.
  • 66mm Jaws: Specifically designed for mini thoracotomy procedures, available  in various straight and curved styles.
  • 33mm Jaws: Designed for pediatric and peripheral vascular procedures.
  • Lambert-kay Jaws: Designed for partial occlusion.

2. Rigid and Flexible Positions

When the rigid position provides accurate placement on the aorta, ensuring precise control during surgery, the flexible position is designed to create optimal space in the surgical field, enhancing accessibility and maneuverability.

II- Cygnet® Flexible Clamps Setup

To ensure the best performance and secure operation of the Cygnet® Flexible  Clamps, follow these steps for the setup with Intrack® Inserts:

1. Intrack® Insert Sets

Peters Surgical offers several types of Intrack® Inserts to enhance the functionality of  the Cygnet® Clamps:

  • Standard Traction
  • Conforming
  • Double Traction
  • Ultra: Provides superior performance with Cygnet® Clamps.

2. Channel Design Features

  • Secure Locking: Inserts lock securely in the jaws, preventing slippage.
  • Atraumatic: Designed to minimize tissue trauma.
  • Conformability: Ensures the inserts conform to the shape of the vessel.
  • Superior Traction: Offers excellent grip and stability.

Step-by-Step Setup Guide

  1. Identify the Tip: Locate the more rounded narrow tip of the insert.
  2. Insert the Tip: Insert the rounded tip into the front of the jaw.
  3. Slide and Lock: Slide the insert completely into the jaw and lock it in place.

Intrack® Inserts

INDICATIONS: Surgical clamps are used with jaw inserts to occlude a blood vessel temporarily and may be used to clamp over indwelling catheters. Suitable for veins and arteries.

For Vascular

  • Suitable for veins and arteries
  • Performs efficiently on either diseased or normal vessels
  • Provides occlusion of atherosclerotic vessels without excessive closing forces
  • Minimizes intimal damage and fragmentation of atherosclerotic material
  • Can be clamped over indwelling catheters

For Gastrointestinal

  • Replaces bulky, rubber shod clamps
  • Cushion-design of inserts enables occlusion without crushing the bowel
