Challenges of Off-pump CABG
While Off-pump CABG has generated significant interest, it has not yet proven superior to traditional methods due to the risk of complications like stroke, which can arise when manipulating the aorta during surgery. This remains a major challenge for widespread adoption of this technique.

About Dr. Gianluca Torregrossa Career
A graduate of the University of Padua in 2006, Dr. Torregrossa was part of the team that implanted the first total artificial heart in Italy in 2011. He went on to hold leadership positions at Mount Sinai St Luke’s (NYC) and the University of Chicago. Since 2021, he has led the Robotic Coronary Program in Philadelphia. With over 80 publications to his name and fluency in four languages, Dr. Torregrossa is a globally recognized figure in the field, and he has even crossed the Sahara desert twice on his motorbike!
